Bay State Fuel Oil, Inc. and Oil Heat Cares Provides Heating Equipment and installation to a Deserving Homeowner
Bay State Fuel Oil recently installed a new heating system for a Homeowner in need. Ms. Angelica Tougas of Chicopee recently found her furnace was unsafe to run and needed to be replaced as the colder weather has descended on New England.
Oil Heat Cares, a not-for-profit Foundation started by the National Association of Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP), and Bay State Fuel Oil, Inc. recently helped Angelica Tougas be warmer this year. The Foundation assists needy persons and organizations with the replacement of their oil heating equipment. They raise funds to purchase heating equipment, and OESP Chapters identify those within their neighborhoods that most need a temporary helping hand, and then by installing the equipment by a local dealer, Bay State Fuel Oil, Inc. at no cost. “We help those who are currently in crisis get back on their feet,” said Dave Bessette, Chairman of the Oil Heat Cares Foundation’s Board of Directors. “This project was a perfect fit for us, and I’m glad that Oil Heat Cares was able to help.” Len Bruso, Owner of Bay State Fuel Oil, and his staff have donated their time to complete the installation.
OESP represents more than 1,000 service managers and highly skilled technicians in the Oil Heating field throughout the county. Oil Heat Cares is the oil heating industry’s way of giving back to the local community by helping those most in need. OESP heating technicians identify potential Oil Heat Cares recipients as they go about their day-to-day work. They then submit the name to the OHC Board, which judges the level of need, and then votes on whether to take on the project. If accepted, all the work and equipment becomes a gift to those in need. “A little help at the right time can make a huge difference in people’s lives,” says Bessette, “especially when the weather is cold and the heat is off.”
Each year, the 22 Chapters of OESP compete for the coveted Oil Heat Cares Cup, an award presented to the Chapter that does the most good in a given year. “It’s a good-spirited competition,” says Bessette, “but the real winners are those we help.” (For a showcase of previous Oil Heat Cares projects, visit www.OilHeatCares.com).
